Presidents' Message
Karen Durst, Co-President
(760) 747-4717
Alice Slawson, Co-President

Welcome back to everyone!
We hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready for a busy year of Division 63 activities. We guarantee that Program Chairmen, Royce and Mary Beth Moore, have exciting programs in store for you...and the State Legislature and fall elections promise more excitement and hard work ahead!

We are sorry to report that we do not have a Vice President in charge of Membership. We do have individual members doing parts of the job, but need someone to receive the address updates and other communication and work to coordinate activities.

Mary Jo Leap and Suzan Reiner are working with the data base and Jean Flake (presently residing at the Villages in Florida), will help with email recruiting and our publicity activities - both done by email from Florida.
So.... there is a core team that needs a leader. If you have never taken the opportunity to serve CRTA, which has done so much to protect YOUR pension - NOW IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY!!!

We need a Communications Chairman to head a community service project. If you would be willing to get travel soap and other personal care products to a local organization such as Intefaith or another local shelter - we need you!!!

The idea of starting a literacy project to get books into the hands of community children, has been proposed. If you would like to work on this, please let us know.

The division needs a liaison to the CRTA-PAC. This will not entail a lot of work, but the PAC Liasion will be expected to keep the Board and members updated on the funding and use of PAC funds!

We will probably be involved in another fight to keep our pension in place during the 2007-08 year.

Please consider volunteering to serve as our Division Liaison.

We look forward to talking with members willing to support Division activities!! Call us!!

Alice and Karen

DIVISION 63 - SPECIAL BONUS

Little Nancy was in the garden filling in a hole when her neighbor peered over the fence. Interested in what the cheeky-faced youngster was up to, he politely asked, "What are you doing there, Nancy?"

"My goldfish died," replied Nancy tearfully without looking up, "and I've just buried him."

The neighbor was very concerned. "That's an awfully big hole for a goldfish, isn't it?"

Nancy patted down the last heap of dirt then replied, "That's because he's inside your stupid cat."
