CRTA - CALIFORNIA RETIRED TEACHERS ASSOCIATION - AREA XI
There’s the drama of life to which we’re part |
Grief and struggles and god-awful pain
Stuck in the muck where ventured to tread
But unknown to us there is gain.
|The 60th year after attack|
A well-planned blow to the head
By somebody smaller yet by far
Who hoped he’d struck us dead.
Though badly wounded and limping around|
From ferocity that’d fall an ox
We grasped our sword to defend ourselves
From this plague worse than the pox.
|For this attack he’d planned for years|
And laid on to finish us off
Somehow we managed to escape with life
Muttering and finally to scoff.
“Is that your best, you cowardly bastard!”
Shouting defiantly in the heat
With a violent response we fiercely charged
Leaving him in dust at our feet!
