"Y E A T S"
by Mac McAnear

I paused to read what it said
Since the poet officially dead
William Butler Yeats

'Stead o' pleas to hear him out
Enigmatic, warning shout
Reluctantly he entered the gates.

"Cast a cold Eye on Life," a last sigh
"On Death, Horseman, pass by"
Puzzling to the very end.

Yet we who stop to look and think
Like to gaze and slowly drink
Reflecting what those liquid words portend!
